selfie vs self portrait
the difference between a selfie and a self portrait:
a selfie is something you take at any given time, and is sort of just a spur of the moment type of thing. most people tend to take them for fun or to send them to their friends. on the other hand, self portraits are far more thought out and creative. self portraits are a representation of oneself or a specific aspect of oneself, while selfies are often used to document/keep people up to date with what that person is doing at the moment. personally, i prefer self portraits because they allow me to be more expressive and i can toy around with them more. self portraits are pretty sweet because you can capture deeper feelings as well as certain characteristics within a person. i like being able to get sort of creepy and weird with self portraits to capture darker emotions and moods. self-portraits can reflect something more tangible and literal, or they can be something more abstract with a deeper feel and personal connection to the photographer.
